Some parts of Zakynthos coastline are rocky and with many beautiful caves. The most famous are the Blue Caves, which are also one of the most important sights on the island and for this reason we recommend them as a great activity for older children not to be missed. The Blue Caves are a special geological formation of successive caves to the north of the island. These formations are located just after Agios Nikolaos and end near Skinari. They derive their name from the blue reflections of water around the caves. You can take a boat to take you to the Blue Caves, from Makris Gialos Beach and Agios Nikolaos Port. Another way to get to the caves is with your vehicle, you have to drive up to the Skinari and from there go down some steps where you can dive into the sea and swim around the caves.
